  • No, the cost of the uniform shirt is included in the registration. The shirt will be given to your child at the first practice and is theirs to keep. The shirt is expected to worn to all practices and games.

I missed the deadline; can I still sign my child up to play?

  • All players who decide to play after the deadline must be put on a waiting list for their age group. To be put on a waiting list you must email the recreation coordinator. If a spot becomes available in that age group you will be notified. Notification may be as late as the week the season starts.

If I volunteer to coach, will I be coaching my son/daughter’s team?

  • Yes, all parents coach their child’s team.

Can I sign up to coach with a friend of mine?

  • Yes, as long as your children are in the same age group you may, OR if the friend does not have children in the program.

What do I need to do to be a coach?

  • You must be 18 years of age or older, pass a background check and be able to work well with children and other parents. Soccer knowledge is helpful, but not necessary. You may be an assistant coach to someone who has experience with the game.

I want my child on his/her best friend’s team. Can you place them together?

  • Our recreational program is very large and we do not honor requests for friends to be together. We feel it’s important to mix up the kids each season so that they can make new friends and learn to play with others.

I registered. Now when will I hear from my child’s coach about team placement and schedules?

  • Your child’s coach will be in contact with you 1-2 weeks before the season begins. Schedules are posted on our website homepage for you to download and print.

What is the Jamboree?

  • This is an event to celebrate the end of the soccer season. It is scheduled for the last Sunday of the season. Each team will play two 30 minute games within their division. There is generally a break between the 2 games so that each team may have a snack and drinks.

My child’s skills seem very advanced. Can he/she play up?

  • We do not move children out of their grade level in recreational soccer. Every team will have a variety of skill levels. We feel it’s most important for the kids to play with their peers. Once your child is old enough he/she may play in our spring or fall Travel League Program if he/she chooses.

What is the difference between the recreational soccer program and the travel league program?

  • Recreational soccer is open to all kids from PreK through 5th grade.  The program takes place at the Bombardier Park fields with NO TRAVELING. All games are Milton Vs Milton. This program is designed to teach the basics of soccer while giving equal playing time to all skill levels. It is meant to be FUN!
  • Our League Program is a travel program. Our teams practice in Milton and have both home and away games against other towns in our area.  There are also some weekends when teams travel and play in tournaments. Parents are responsible for getting their children to all games and tournaments.  League play costs between $40 and $125 to register and a full uniform kit is required to play (~$65). Some age groups in this league have tryouts for team placement. This program focuses on more specific technical skills. The spring program has teams from U10-U19 (ages 9-18). The fall program is for U10 and U12 players only (ages 9-12).

What does my child need for equipment?

  • Every child needs shin guards, a water bottle and cleats (PreK kids can wear athletic sneakers). Balls and any other equipment needed to play the game are provided by the Milton Youth Soccer Club.
